Veronica Longo

Veronica Longo was born in Naples on March 20, 1976 and lived for four years in Brazil, in São Paulo, before moving to Pozzuoli, where she now resides. Graduated from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of Federico II, from 2001 to 2004 she attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, thus discovering her passion for engraving. In 2005 she participated in the seminar Between tradition and experimentation at the Atelier Aperto in Venice, where she obtained the II Level Degree Diploma in 2006. Since 2009 she has curated the catalog and the event Incisioni al femminile, which currently includes 100 artists (on selection) from all over the world.In 2012 she studied non-toxic engraving with the master Fernando Santiago in Alijo, Portugal and spent three months in Japan to work and study in depth different aspects of engraving and its materials: lithography, photolithography and traditional Japanese woodcut (ukiyo-e). In 2014 she officially opened the Controsegno gallery and graphic art printing house, also curating the exhibitions with related catalogues Numero Uno and Stampa2, which were attended by 120 engravers from all over the world. She was appointed external commissioner for the international events Global Print 2015 and the Bienal Internacional de Gravura do Douro 2016, both in Portugal. In 2017 she was among the artists selected for the IIIAF 2017 - Indira International Imprint Arts Festival in India and was invited to participate in the 4 International Artsymposium in Voitsberg 2017 in Austria.
 

She currently works as a temporary teacher in L’Aquila and as a curator, engraver and printer in Naples, managing the Atelier Controsegno on her own, where she holds training and specialization courses on graphic art and creates personal editions and portfolios or on behalf of other artists.
